Plaid and Neutral

Just getting a little more use out of these plaid pants before the seasons change. Next time I’ll spice things up a little with them…this time it’s all about being simple.

Inspiration
On Sundays I get my clothes ready for the work week. I had planned to wear black and white today, but then I saw this and thought a denim top would be a nice change from a blazer.
On a sort-of side note, I love checking out the style of others. Looking for a little inspo yourself…check out these gems: A classic vintage vibe, trend setter, girl next door, layering expert, vintage meets present day glam, and queen with a sewing machine.

Score
This dress was such a great purchase. You know the kind…found it while digging in the sale racks…only your size left. Perhaps a ray of sun was shinning on you through the store window, and some angelic song started playing in the background…
Anyway, this dress does a great job working by itself or being paired with others (like my current favorite color combo: blue and green.) Hmm…playing well with others. Sounds like a student every teacher would love to have in their class. I should teach my other clothes to behave this way.

KUF Turns One!
Last year I started this blog to document my fashion adventures during my 2nd pregnancy. I was Making the Most of my pregdrobe for all occasions from Sick Days to Date Day and Dinner and a Movie.
If you’ve been reading KUF for a bit, you’ve learned some About me…and if this is Just Another Day for you, I thank you all for stopping by! It’s the Simple Pleasures…meaning, you, the readers, that give me Sheer Happiness. (Thank you soooo much!!!)
The future of KUF looks Bright. There will be no Farewell Party here any time soon! This little blog is going to keep on evolving.
Return of the Pencil Skirt
I love a good pencil skirt. They are a staple in my teacher wardrobe and they’re finally making it back into my rotation (nothing wacks up a woman’s body like pregnancy!)
When I wear them during the cooler months, I like to either match my tights to the skirt or match my tights and shoes…it makes my already short (5’3″) frame seem a little taller.

Reverse Tie-Dye
A few posts back I mentioned testing a little something with a beginning-to-fade pair of black skinny jeans…well, friends, I tried it. The results weren’t exactly what I had planned, but…well…lemme just show you…

I took the jeans and scrunched them up, using lots of rubber bands to hold it all together. Then (using rubber gloves), I submerged the jean ball into a mixture of bleach and water (don’t ask how much…I just eyeballed. In fact, I ended up adding more bleach to the mixture after about 5 minutes or so), and mixed it until I noticed a color change that I liked. After that, I carefully took the rubber bands off and rinsed the jeans in water until the water ran clear. And then I threw the jeans in the washing machine for a regular wash.
And…

I don’t know what to think of them yet. Especially since my husband said, “Where’d you get those pants from?” in his so-you-call-that-fashion voice. But, I’m glad I took a risk, ’cause it’s boring living life in a “what-if” world.
Thoughts? Comments? I’d love to hear. Don’t worry, you won’t hurt my feelings…I work with children.
Love is…

…the men in my life that make it all worth while!

Pink and Red
Sailor Made
Wearing stripes and red usually make me feel a little French…but with this jacket (thrifted, of course, with the tags still on! Gotta love it when someone regrets their impulse purchase…) I’m ready to take on the sea…or a class of second graders.
